Due to increased security measures in place for Galway Races 2017, PLEASE DO NOT bring anything with you that cannot fit in your jacket pocket or in a very small bag. As per the guidelines publicised by Galway Racecourse Authorities, no bag larger than an A4 size will be permitted past the entrance. 

Lydon House Catering do not have the facility to store any staff belongings anywhere outside or on the racecourse, other than a jacket/coat and a very small bag. Any delay to your access onto the racecourse will negatively impact our service delivery, therefore, please comply strictly with the above guidelines.

Assistant Bar & Restaurant Manager – Barna, Co. Galway

We are currently recruiting for a trustworthy and reliable individual to join the team in our Award Winning Restaurant.

Applicants should have a minimum of  4 years experience working within a busy bar/restaurant or hotel environment with a minimum of 18 months in a supervisory capacity (either in a formal or contracted acting-up position).  The role will support the manager in all aspects of the running of a busy bar and restaurant and will provide an opportunity for the job holder to further develop their skills.

Duties will include staff management, training and development  (including roster preparation), budgeting, stocktaking, cash handling (including end of day reconciliations), purchasing  and menu planning.  Applicants may join with only a number of these requirements, however, a commitment to learning and on-going personal development is essential as  training/mentoring will be provided to ensure up-skilling in all the required areas.

In addition to the above educational requirements, the following skills are essential:

Relevant qualification within the food/beverage industry (supported by accreditations), together with up-to-date knowledge of HACCP/Allergens
Proven experience of dealing with customers, staff, clients and any other individuals encountered in the normal course of business in a professional and courteous manner
A passion for working with food and delivering first class customer service
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office

Hours will be rostered 5/7 to include daytime, evening and weekend hours and hours/days of work may vary from week to week
